What a grand Sinfonia Rotterdam opening of the season last night!! Sinfonia Maritiem Concert in the wonderful ambiance of Het Park Rotterdam . Presented by @FennaRamos , Rotterdam’s dynamic Chamber orchestra conducted by Conrad van Alphen performed for a packed audience orchestral highlights by #Rossini, #Beethoven and #Mendelssohn. Jazz singer Ntjam Rosie touched in her own compositions wonderfully arranged by Sylvia Maessen & Abriel Ferreira. And what a pleasure to accompany young soloists @DianaFakour & @JolieBisoendial in #Mozart’s Sinfonia Concertante. These talented musicians won the #SinfoniaPrize in collaboration with Prinses Christina Concours. The tradition of rounding up the evening with Handel’s Music for the Royal Fireworks never gets stale!
General manager of the orchestra Mariët Struijk wrote and presented in a true story the origin of Sinfonia Rotterdam from its foundation in 2000 to the recent astoundingly ignorant outcome of an external advisory commission to cut the orchestras subsidy as from January next year. We hope and trust the City Council of Rotterdam will not adhere to this unjust and bizarre advice. This weekend an audience of more than 4000 people scream with all their might to the City Council to maintain our great orchestra.
More about this in the next days, but firstly a huge thank you to the sponsors who specifically made the Sinfonia Maritiem concerts possible:
Main Sponsors Rotterdam Harbour Holding, Droom en Daad & Rotterdam Festivals
Sponsors and donators: Stichting Verzameling Van Wijngaarden-Boot, Elise Mathilde Fonds, Erasmus Stichting, DeltaPORT Donatiefonds, Van Cappellen Stichting & G.Ph. Verhagen Stichting.

Build up for this evenings open air concert! Honoured to celebrate 150 years of Maritiem Museum Rotterdam with Sinfonia Rotterdam and performing the wonderful music of Mozart and Handel. Soloist of the evening in collaboration with International Vocal Competition 's-Hertogenbosch (IVC) is soprano Nikki Treurniet. The rain has blessed us with its absence, so come and enjoy with us :-)
