State Orchestra Saarbrücken – Schubert Symphony no.9 ‘The Great”
Van Alphen is not someone who just wants to dictate. He can also accept offers from the orchestra in order to shape dynamics and rhythm and integrate them into his ideas.
And so this Schubert symphony became a convincing example of what the state orchestra can achieve when it is freely led, inspired and sometimes motivated with humor. A performance that always captivated, forced you to listen and to pay attention. An emotional and intellectual pleasure, an artistic challenge for the performers, who thereby do something invaluable for society.
